Search : Isle Of Lewis

Included search variations: Isle Of Lewis, Lewis

Lewis lies off the west coast of Scotland and forms the southern part of Lewis and Harris in the Outer Hebrides. It is not an island itself as it is joined to Harris by a narrow isthmus at the town of Tarbert. Lewis is relativley flat and the inland area is made up of a peat plateau. The coastal areas consist of a mixture of beautiful sandy beaches and rugged cliffs. It is famed for the Machair which are low lying fertile dunes which support a profusion of wild flowers.
