Suilven

Inverpolly, National Nature Reserve, Assynt, Scotland

The flatness of Inverpolly's peat bog and lochan covered landscape is punctuated by a number of prominent mountains such as Suilven. Although not the highest mountains in the world, the flatness of the surrounding landscape and their distinctive shapes, give them added prominence. This area is world renowned for its geology and I emphasised this by making the a vertical panorama, with the rocky foreground prominent in the image, suggesting the isolation of the mountain.
