Frosted Trees

Killiecrankie, Perthshire, Scotland

It was a bitterly cold, late Autumn morning as I stood waiting to catch this magnificent scene. The soft light was perfect for this type of subject but I had to work quickly to capture the image before the sun rose, introducing harsh contrast to the photograph. Although the leaves had fallen from some of the trees, a hard overnight frost had highlighted the tracery of their branches. This, along with the remaining autumn colours, created a beautiful spectacle.
