The upland areas of Perthshire are home to a great number of hill farms. They specialise in cattle and sheep farming on the marginal land between low land and mountain. Many dry stane walls crisscross the land acting as pasture boundaries for the livestock as well as lead-in line for panoramas. Given the rickety nature of the gate I'm not sure how effective this gate would be against lively livestock. Photo © copyright by Graham Chalmers.
