Butt of Lewis, Isle of Lewis, Outer Hebrides

The Butt of Lewis is the most northerly point on the Isle of Lewis. The cliffs are battered by frequent Atlantic storms and the lighthouse acts as a beacon of hope for shipping in these treacherous waters. The lighthouse was built in 1862 by David Stevenson. The station once held the record in the Guiness Book of Records as being the windiest place in the UK.
