Beech Wood Blur

Arbroath, Angus, Scotland

One of the advantages of digital photography is the ability to experiment with new techniques, without the fear of failure costing a lot of money. This technology would have been particularly useful when creating this image, as I was using a 617 format camera which swallows film at an alarming rate (4 frames per role). I tried a variety of panning speeds with this image and waited for the results to return from the lab. Fortunately the results matched those I had imagined in my mind. The trees had enough blur to be impressionistic while still being recognisable.
