Autumn Progress

Glen Lyon, Perthshire, Scotland

As I overlooked a mountain stream tumbling down the hillside, I became aware that the trees on one side of the burn had been stripped of almost all their leaves by the recent gales, whereas, those on the opposite bank were, by and large, intact. I was drawn by the contrast between the tracery of the bare branches and the solid blocks of colour in the background. Thankfully it was an overcast day, providing soft light, otherwise the subtlety of the image would have been overwhelmed.
